Software Design Engineer

We are currently seeking to recruit a self motivated individual to join a small but busy team of engineers as software design engineer.

Responsibilities will include development of firmware for embedded product designs running on a wide range of Pic microprocessors. It will also include development of Windows and IoS applications.

The role requires a proven track record in embedded software design for Pic microcontrollers using C and MPLab. Proficiency in object orientated C++, preferably on the Embarcadero platform is also required. A knowledge of assembler techniques for support of legacy designs would be of significant benefit.

A positive, flexible attitude to work is essential, as is the ability to work well under pressure in order to meet the demands of an often unpredictable industry.

Experience in the entertainment lighting industry would be an advantage, as would a working knowledge of protocols such as DMX512, RDM or DALI. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of digital electronics, excellent English language skills, a high level of IT skills including Word, Excel and databases, a clean driving licence and an enthusiasm for new challenges.

The working week is 40-hours, Monday to Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm. Very occasional weekend working is required. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.

R&D Internship (PLM)

Founded in 1988, Artistic Licence designs and manufactures lighting control products and is based in London.

We are offering an internship in our R&D department to work with our team on development of a PLM (Power Line Modulation) system. The internship will run for between 8 and 16 months and is aimed at students actively studying for a BSc or MSc in electronics, software or related science.

The successful candidate will be able to work as part of a team and also be self-motivated and able to problem-solve under their own initiative. They will have a good all-round knowledge of digital electronics coupled with experience of Microchip based development in the Mplab and Harmony suites.

During the interview, the candidate will be asked to present a design project that they have completed.
