rackLynx octo

rackLynx octo is an 8-port ethernet gateway, capable of converting up to 8 Universes of Art-Net/sACN to DMX512/RDM. It is designed to sit in a 1U slot in a 19″ rack, with the added bonus that is is only 50mm deep.

The slim profile of the metal case means that the product is great for space-saving on wall mounted overhead racks. Alternatively, in touring applications, doubled-sided racks can be packed with two products per 1U slot, facing front and back.

The product features 8 bidirectional DMX512/RDM ports, using front mounted Neutrik connectors 5-pin XLR connectors.

rackLynx octo provides a native implementation of the award-winning Art-Net 4 protocol (with full backward compatibility), allowing users to access sophisticated new functionality – for example, you can choose sACN rather than Art-Net for the live control data, and still benefit from Art-Net’s discovery, network management and RDM tools.

rackLynx octo has electrical (transient) protection on the outputs, which guards against both static electricity and LED power supply faults or mis-wires.

The Artistic Licence series of gateways leads the field with interoperability, unlike others we are compliant to all international standards, including the very latest additions such as RDMnet (E1.33) and sACN per slot priority (E1.31-1) enabling more advanced prioritisation. In addition, dataLynx II supports RDM Integrity, a software package used to test both native RDM and RDM over Art-Net.

A convenient button on the front panel of the product provides a quick and easy way to restore the factory default settings (hold down and cycle power). A single press of this button causes the product to emit a ‘squawk’ – a message over the network that enables the console operator to easily identify the physical location of the dataLynx II.

Network connectivity is achieved using the Ethercon RJ45 connector on the front panel. Configuration is achieved over the network using the internal web-server or DMX-Workshop. DHCP enables automatic IP addressing; static IP and LLRP negotiation are also supported.

The product is powered via a standard IEC connector located on the rear of the unit.
